This series of pieces, focusing on endangered and invasive species, came out of a project supported by the Minnesota State Arts Board. The project brought me into conversation with naturalists and scientists studying the impacts of climate change in Minnesota. Tall vases, illustrated with endangered Minnesota wildflowers, stand as sentinels, recording species that may soon cease to exist. Other compositions pair invasive species with the endangered ones they are displacing. Buckthorn, garlic mustard, and purple loosestrife fill the foreground while the threatened species retreat into shadow.
